YourPAL is a productivity app built around three problems students know well: procrastination, burnout and bad timekeeping. The concept is an AI study companion that learns how you work - pinpointing your peak productivity hours and building bespoke schedules around them - and goes beyond task management to track wellness and show you how you actually spend your time.
It was the final project of Interactive and Digital Tools, a second-year studio about emerging digital tools, and it followed two earlier briefs in the same course - a printed design-card deck and a piece of time-based media. The app brief asked for a fully reasoned concept: a narrative, a context it fits into, an account of how it works, and proposals for where it could go. Not a shipped product - a thought-through one. That is exactly why the deliverable is a complete set of flows and a working Figma prototype rather than code: the thinking was the point.
This was my introduction to Figma and to app design, and as much an exercise in user journeys and mapping as in interface. The organising question was temporal: how does a student move through the app over a day, a week, a term? I worked outward from those journeys - flows first, then screens - so the interface followed the behaviour rather than the other way round.
The outcome is a complete set of wireframes and user flows and a functional Figma mockup - the dashboard, the schedule and the wellness view - the foundation an iterative build would refine. Not a shipped app, but a fully reasoned one, which is what the brief asked for.
